Here are some samples of students' work...

A couple writing pieces on "Consideration", one of the school's Five C's.  The students who wrote these pieces also read them to the whole school at the Tuesday, October 7 assembly.

 Consideration

What is it?
Consideration is the practice of caring in a kind way to other people.  A person who is considerate is someone who is sensitive to the feelings and wishes of other people.  He considers other people's way of life before he takes action against them.

What Does it Look Like?
Consideration looks like the sun when it shines on the flowers and trees, the birds and bees, all of life.  It looks like the sea that lets the fish and whales swim and live in its waters.  It looks like a mother and father who smile on their new baby.

How Can I Show Consideration?
When I watch television, I could turn the volume down so the noise doesn't disturb other people in the house or outside.  When I use the computer, I could let my sister and friends have a turn.  I could set the table at dinner for everyone in the family.

Can I Do More?
When I spill water, I have to dry the water before anyone slips on it.  I should put things back after I use it so other people can find it and use it.

On October 28th, there was a school-wide assembly.  The gym walls displayed posters created by our class.  The theme of the posters was "Courtesy".   Even though our class was ice-skating, I hope parents got the opportunity to see them.

Considering Consideration

Consideration is a foundation on which friendships are built.  It's needed in all races and cultures.  With it, you can be accepted into almost any social circle.  Consideration is thoughtfulness towards others.

Consideration is a gentle, caring attitude towards other people.  It's an appealing, desirable quality cherished by many people.  People are capable of having this attitude, but whether they choose to have it or not, is a person's free choice.  It's a decision we all have to make.

Consideration can be shown in a wide variety of ways.  For instance, at home, consideration can be shown by doing our chores and homework without being asked to do so.  At school, we could go out of our way to show new students around.  We could also help the teacher by not responding to other students who try to talk to us when we are supposed to be doing our work.

Yes, when I get older, I can do more by sharing with the poor and needy.  Also, when any of our family members need some financial help, if it's the right time, we could share some money with them.

In my opinion, overall, there are many benefits to being considerate.  When you are considerate to others, it is likely that they will be considerate back to you.
